HR Generalist - Benefits & Payroll

Department: Human Resources
Location: West Fargo, ND

DFC Company is looking for a dynamic individual who is passionate about benefits and payroll to join our team in Human Resources! This position offers a unique and exciting opportunity for development and career advancement with a diverse and rapidly growing organization.

Shift and Time: Monday through Friday, Full-Time

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct new employee orientation, onboarding, and process new hire paperwork
  • Assist HR Benefits & Payroll Manager with compensation updates and benefits enrollments
  • Support the annual open enrollment by processing enrollments and/or cancellations on vendor sites, billing statements and payroll deductions
  • Assist with FMLA documentation and employee disability requests
  • Assist the HR Benefits & Payroll Manager with various human resources, payroll, and benefits audits and reviews
  • Track and process weekly/bi-weekly vacation accrual updates and eligibility
  • Assist with quarterly tax filings and general ledger reconciliation
  • Support the H-2B labor application process and Puerto Rican worker programs
  • Create and maintain process documentation for the benefits and payroll functions
  • Provide guidance and support for employee inquiries regarding benefits and payroll processing
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiencies, and system enhancements
  • Audit payroll and benefits data to ensure accuracy
  • Maintain employee personnel files within VISTA to include uploading all file documents, ensuring accuracy and integrity of data
  • Act as a back-up in the absence of the HR Benefits & Payroll Manager
  • Other tasks as defined by the HR Benefits & Payroll Manager and VP – Human Resources

Supporting Functions:

  • Manage employee separation and layoff processes; including providing assistance with unemployment notices and claim responses
  • Process all phases of the weekly hourly and bi-weekly salary payroll processing
  • Prepare and submit certified payroll and EEO 13 reporting
  • Calculate and submit payroll related tax reports (federal and state) within specified deadlines
  • Review and follow up on daily timecard approvals and processing

The HR Benefits & Payroll Generalist works with both payroll and benefits, becoming proficient and gaining comprehensive system knowledge in order to support and serve as back up to the HR Benefits & Payroll Manager in times of absences, ensuring smooth operations.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: BS degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, Payroll or related field from an accredited college is desired. Minimum 3 years of directly related experience is a plus.
